Thousands Experiencing Electricity in South-East Queensland and Victoria Following Intense Storms
Around 25,000 residences in south-east Queensland woke up without power on the start of the week after intense storm systems passed over the region, generating wind gusts hitting 109km/h.
Substantial Ice Stones and Widespread Damage
Locals reported substantial frozen pellets as large as seven centimeters in some areas. Meteorological experts confirmed that various areas across Queensland had been affected by large hailstones.

Response teams were attempting to repair energy supply throughout the damaged zones, with dozens of response units working to address the widespread outages.
Victorian Climate Difficulties
At the same time, around 1,000 energy customers in the southern state also experienced power outages after the capital city saw its most precipitation in a year and a half.
State Emergency Services responded to nearly 600 calls for help across the state, mainly for building damage but also for downed trees and flooding.

At one point on the previous day, more than twenty-eight thousand electricity consumers in Victoria were experiencing outages.
Climate Outlook
Moist weather were forecast to persist along significant areas of Queensland's east this week as a low-pressure trough continued to attract humidity against the coast.
Tuesday was forecast to be the heaviest precipitation period, with continued severe weather risk predicted across different parts of both areas.
Safety Concern
Public health experts alerted that there was an increased chance of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the countryside regions, particularly given the current weather patterns.
This warning comes after past events where analogous circumstances led to substantial respiratory problems in the region.
